Turkish Aviation fans, Greetings from sunny Miami,
Nice to see the Space Shuttle launch last week, it was my second time and lucky to be only 8 miles away this time.

I was a bit out of the loop about Turkish aviation lately but I see a newly painted TK 319 still in D reg:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/40168621@N07/5482687635/

-I was happy to hear that TK firmed their options for the 15 x 737, any idea about the split?
-Big news that TK is finally starting its longest route ever, LAX. Good Luck to TK on this route, starting 5 x weekly with 77W on March 3rd.
-Besides, I have to mention the great job TK did evacuating thousands of people out of Libya.

Fuel prices on the rise, summer is around the corner, most other Turkish companies picking up new frames for summer.

Please join us with you questions, news, rumors, ideas, pics and good old humor.

According to Airporthaber, Saga Airlines will return its sole A330-300 (TC-SGJ) to ILFC. Looks like they couldn't get what they had expected. Or was this already planned, leasing the aircraft out to Turkish until the airline gets its own a/c?

Btw, I read someone that Saga would replace its 737 fleet with A320s?! Can't find it anymore, can anyone confirm this?

Jethros fleet listings shows that one of the (soon to be) ex-FR 738s is going to a Turkish carrier; it doesn't state which one, but I'm guessing a charter airline. The LN is 1463, so if anyone finds out, please share!

Hope it works well for them, A mate of mine saw an advert in Athens for TK ATH-IST-LAX for EUR699 all in for travel in April. Not bad at all.

the 333 was mainly used as a back-up, mostly sitting around on the apron. last season they used it quite frequently for Hajj ops and also now it is doing Umre flights.

yesterday I saw one of their 738s in DXB in full Saga livery. don't know what they are doing here, but I guess the aircraft I saw is also leased to another carrier in the region or a replacement for the A310 leased to Ariana.

I would rule out TK, but not Anadolujet. Pegasus and Sunexpress takes delivery of new 738 so those would be odd. Onur Air, Freebird and Atlasjet have no 738 in the fleet, neither does have Tailwind (only 734). Izair is also Airbus only, Borajet, well, self-explanatory... so, from a logical point of view Anadolujet, Sky Airlines, Corendon and Saga are possible taker.
but, if when you add summer season and probably more tourists coming to Turkey due to political issues in the region to this nothing is "logic" anymore, everybody will take what they get on the market as soon as possible

Hi everyone, after following this forum for over 3 years, finally starting to post!

TK has firmed up 10 A321, and topped up their A330F order with 3 more, bringing the total to 5. I guess they are happy with how it is performing, huh?

Welcome to a.net,
Thanks, just got the news myself here in NYC.
332F is a no brainer, replacing 310s. 10 x 321s is a lot of 321s on top of the 14 on order.
What is the real advantage of having 321s and 739ERs side by side?

So as of now 80 jets on order;
-4 x 77Ws
-6 x 333s
-1 x 332
-4 x 332Fs
- 6 x 319s
-24 x 321s
-10 x 738s
-10 x 739s
-15 x 737NGs

Wow,
Good luck to all at IST in the next 5 years. Fingers crossed we might still see a 787/350 and 380 orders.

probably only TK knows this answer! for many years everybody is asking about the advantage of the mixed 738/32x fleet... but those new order might replace some of the non-TK 321s in the fleet which are around 10 years old now (the TC-JM.. fleet). other than that, I can only think of the great economics of the 321. they serve very well short domestic and high volume flights as well as continental longer routes up to 4hrs. flight time.

Turks living in Germany are really wonderful people, they think they are smartest as they learned very well by manuplating the system in Germany.Everyday we run into one or more of these smart pants on board with strange requests which we dont really understand why.But doing this on a street in Germany is way different than doing the same thing onboard a Turkish plane operated by Turks.I have the same brain like you which works to manuplate the system you idiots I know every move of yours before you even think about it ...!!!

When flying back from Germany recently we didnt have any people boarded with wheel chairs but before we landed here there were 2 people who requested wheelchairs after landing.I asked the FA if they were old or disabled but the answer was they were two young men and none of them were disabled. We discovered that they were lying to get priority on customs and passport formalites.

So I told the FA to tell them, they are not eligeble for a wheelchair because they didnt board with WCs but if they request I would call the doctor if they dont feel good enough to walk, they will be transferred with an ambulift.

That was even better than WCs only, they would be transferred with a seperate vehicle away from the passenger bus and not walk all the way in İstanbuls long terminal .So these guys asked for the doctor thinking that it would be great to ride alone on an ambulift direct to fast track on customs.

I would love to see their faces when they were handed the bill since that is not free and THY doesnt pay for the lies.My guess that they would be charged around couple hundred Euros.

And another lady today told the Chief FA that she was suffering from panic attack and had attacks onboard airplanes before. She says the airplane(A321) was too small makes her feel clostrofobhic. And she added the only time she felt good was once when she was moved to business seats once and there were nobody next to her.CFA told this to me and I wanted her to ask the passenger if she feel fit for the flight? She answers that she was not sure about what will happen in the clostrophobic back section, she may feel sick as she had before.

So I called the ground staff and asked them to disembark the lady because I refuse to fly her under these conditions that she stated. She said she is now very well and wanted to fly but she had to bring a medical doctors report that she is fit to fly unfortunately we didnt have enough time to wait for her so she was removed with all her luggage and everything. We have a nice old saying for this in Turkish"Dimyatta prince giderken evdeki bulgurdan olmak"

LOL... thats funny thanks for the amusing read. The Greeks used to have the same stories on OA also   Couldnt afford the baggage charges and were taking home essentials, when going to the gate you passed them in the duty free buying Armani then you would see them at the gate and ask for the excess fees ''we also accept Amex Platinum'' or have the bags off loaded.

This is so funny yet so true. Probably not too funny at the time. The most annoying thing is these people would only resort to that kind of behavior on a TK fright. I have see it so many times flying from Australia to Turkey. Behavior of most passengers change when they step off the QF flight and step onto the TK flight in Singapore.
