Hey kcrwflyer.......I heard the runway extension on the 23 end of the runway opened today. Is that true? 500 ft right?

According to airnav.com, that runway is still showing 6300 feet. Are you talking about a 500 foot overrun area?

It only opened yesterday.. don't think any documentation is going to show that just yet.

it's not an overrun, it's an actual extension of 500 ft. But, it's a little strange the way they're doing it. For takeoff on 23 the runway is now 6800 ft. But for all other uses, it's still 6300 ft. Meaning take off and landing on 5 or landing on 23 it's still 6300 ft. That's what they told me when I asked. So that means the new extension when landing on 23 is a displaced threshold. For landing on 5, it is being considered an over run I guess.

You pretty much nailed it. Though I don't understand why the 500ft. cant be used in the LDA or TORA/TODA for 5 since it is paved runway.. EWR has displaced thresholds on both ends of the 4-22's and for LDA they seem to be using threshold to the end of the pavement on the opposite end. Likewise, they're calling TODA full length of both.

Strange to see more than an RJ at CRW.... I remember as a kid there were always 727, 737 DC9, BAE146 etc etc.... then the RJ's took over. Good to see some mainline sized planes are back.

I don't understand why the LDA for 5 can't be 6800ft. If someone can figure that out, let us know.

Is that supposed to be some kind of sly shot at CRW? Ran out of Pabst? How clever.

I always love seeing smaller airports finally get an Airbus or Boeing service. And in this case it wasn't even Vision or G4 (I know, MDs... which are technically Boeings now). What is NK's schedule at CRW?

Tues, Thurs, Sun to FLL. May 5th, they run MYR on the same days as well. It's pretty awesome that they and AirTran are on the ground here side by side on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I live here and wasn't aware that was a popular beer.
