The first two are ex EK , I had thought that the second pair were also coming from EK , but I read a post from someone else recently which indicated that the numbers 3 and 4 will be new builds .

Quoting kaitak (Reply 7): I thought that DJ had already announced its new product offering on the A330, which will be significantly different from the seats on the EK A332s?
Based on the website images the seating is similar to that of EK... I believe the seats have received new covers and interior fittings...

The first plane has definately arrived at MEL, and was parked on the far pier today, closest to Tiger. It was then moved later in the afternoon to the John Holland apron.

Damn, I just left MEL on the 2nd March, would have been nice to get at least a glimpse of it...did it arrive in DJ colors already?
Are the new-builds direct orders? I have not heard of DJ making any direct orders with Airbus, so who are they leasing them from, or who's units did they take over?

This brand name / logo / marketing strategy / colour scheme needs to be sorted out NOW rather than later. The entire DJ/VA outfit is looking like something out of a 3rd world country. Its not doing the image any good
Where's the passion gone out of the airline industry? The smell of jetfuel and the romance of taking a flight....

Quoting EK413 (Reply 4): 2 x Ex - Emirates Airlines A330-223 aircraft and 2 x Brand NEW from Airbus factory...
-243 (RR) not -223 (PW)
Quoting EK413 (Reply 4): One of the A330s have already been ferried to MEL...
Right, the fort one is already registered as VH-XFA and was delivered on 4th March.
2 ex EK are:
A330-243 msn 365, VH-XFA (ex A6-EAB, ex F-WWKB)
A330-243 msn 372, still A6-EAC (ex F-WWYQ)
Both frames were built in 2000 and were leased to EK by "Calyon" according to JP.
According to Airbus official database Virgin Blue is "operating" 2 A330 without any more on order nor option, therefore if there is any order for a new frame it should be trough a lessor.
