Just read that Liverpool Airport is to be renamed after the former Beatle John Lennon.
The renaming ceremony will commence on Monday 2nd July with Yoko Ono present.
I don't know what the official new name is, maybe John Lennon Intl???
Do you think this will help Liverpool's future expansion plans???

Don't know if it will help, but it won't hurt. As a major
Beatle-fanatic I'm glad the airport is being named after Lennon. Let's face it, The Beatles put Liverpool on the map.

I think its fine! Yoko attendance bothers me...but that's a personal issue.

Heck, honor 'em all. Liverpool-Beatles Airport who's motto would be "Open Eight Days Week"

I think the Beatles are great and all, but I think this is just dumb.

I guess it's just me, but I really...uhmm..."dislike" it when places are renamed after famous people. I mean, so he was a good musicien........??

Great, name an airport after a drug-toking 60s rock icon.

Then again, Washington is stuck with the name of a no-good, brain-dead president, so go figure.

I don't think it's a good idea! (In fact I hate it)
If anything, it should be named after the "Beatles", not just Lennon. I also don't like the idea of Yoko being there!

I wonder how the rest of the Beatles feel about this. What makes Lennon more special then the others?
(Because he was murdered??)

What about it's more appropriate to name airports after dead people? Only kings and presidents can be named airports after while they're still alive. Think about Saddam Hussein International Airport  Wink/being sarcastic. At least that's a rule when naming streets etc. in Holland. So I hope it will take another 30 years before we'll see a Paul McCartney airport or bridge.

nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

Another bit of info for you, the new slogan for the airport will be:
Above Us Only Sky
...taken from the song Imagine. Forgive me here, but its all starting to sound a bit tacky in my opinion.

Yeah, there's a great example, Saddam Hussein International - any votes against? Yes, you at the back - do you want to be hanged or shot?

There are a few airports named after people still alive, in the west; look at Bush Intercontinental airport, Texas. (Now that would be a nice route - Houston to Baghdad; Bush to Saddam!)

It'll certainly be a big crowd on Monday when Yoko comes and no doubt the police will be hard pressed to maintain crowd control at such a small airport; I mean, imagine all the people . . .

(Sorry, just couldn't resist it!)
