BASED ON ALL AVAILABLE DATA A TSUNAMI MAY HAVE BEEN GENERATED BY
THIS EARTHQUAKE THAT COULD BE DESTRUCTIVE ON COASTAL AREAS EVEN
FAR FROM THE EPICENTER. AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY TO DETERMINE
IF THERE IS A TSUNAMI THREAT TO HAWAII.

As of 0723 BA7 LHR-HND (which should be boarding right about now for an 0805 departure) and BA5 LHR-NRT at 1235 are still showing as operating...fortunately the return flights to Heathrow got out of Japan this morning.

Sendai (SDJ) has been hit by tsunami related flooding - no planes are visible so I hope there were none on the ground at the time otherwise they may have been washed away. Many people congregating on the roof. Tsunami scenes are quite devastating. This is being reported on NHK World TV
