B6 To Start FLL-PLS?

HI all,

I'm planning a trip to PLS next fall, but prices from MIA are a bit expensive with AA. A friend of mine who lives in PLS and works for an airline there told me that B6 might start a daily flight from FLL for the summer, and they were waiting to see how the JFK-PLS performs, his source was a B6 employee.

Anyone has heard anything on this??

Cheers,

777jaah

Next flights: AV BOG-ADZ-BOG, AV-UA BOG-IAD-ORD-IAD-BOG, BOG-FLL-BOG, LA BOG-MIA-BOG J

JetBlue considering Ft. Lauderdale, Miami routes

If all goes well, JetBlue Airways – one of the latest carriers to enter the Turks and Caicos Islands market – could offer services between Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the Providenciales International Airport in the TCI in the not-too-distant future.
The airline’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Robin Hayes told The SUN that adding service between Fort Lauderdale and Turks and Caicos is not off the cards, since the Fort Lauderdale route serves as a very important market for JetBlue.
For four years locals especially have been complaining the high fares that they have to pay to fly to Miami and have long been calling for some level of competition on that route, which is served only by American Airlines.

Where did you hear this? I saw an article that mentioned that B6 doesn't fly to business hubs such as ATL and DFW, but it seemed to choose those as examples instead of possible cities. I did see that B6 will hit 100 daily flights in BOS next month and hopes to someday reach 150! They tried ATL (but not from BOS), yet DFW will allow connections with AA. DAL might make more sense if AA gave B6 some room like they did at DCA.

B6 really can do well flying from Southern Florida to the Caribbean, since NK is easier to compete with. They could make SJU-PLS work too.

Yes, I read about that. But, I still hope that JetBlue expands into the Americas. But, also maybe get a B787 to fly into Central/South America from JFK/BOS and other major BlueCities. I dont know why no one made a post about the interline agreement. Thats pretty weird,if you ask me.

Another part of finding more revenue to cover airport costs is air service development. Joe Lopano said he's encouraged by talks with low-fare airline JetBlue Airways Corp. about possible service to New York's JFK International Airport and to Boston. Lopano, the executive vice president of marketing, added that there's encouraging progress to get air service to the United Arab Emirates.

I had seen that, which means they are inching closer to oneworld alignment. But it doesn't make much of an impact on this thread.

MIA-PLS isn't going to happen anytime soon, especially since they have zero presence. They will start MIA-JFK/BOS, followed by IAD, SJU, and LGB before then. FLL-PLS will have to wait to see how BOS/JFK-PLS do.

Dont forget B6 is moving* their FLL flight over to LAX. Not sure what the start day is off the top of my head though.

I put an * by moving because now that Frontier is pulling out of LGB, B6 may be able to get those two slots and from what rumors we are hearing, we may just end up keeping LGB/FLL after all.

I don't work for B6, or have any inside information, I'm just speculating. However, BOS/JFK-MIA does seem logical.

Keep in mind that's been speculated for at least 3 years. I'd personally love to see that. But MIA is a fortress hub and MIA-NYC already has a lot of supply from AA, DL and UA/CO. It's also worth considering that B6 doesn't fly at all into the other two largest fortress hubs in the country - ATL and DFW. Will B6 eventually fly to MIA? I think so, but I don't think it's eminent. Especially because right now they have easier spots to grow through, like USA-Caribbean and building up SJU as a focus city.

Quite true.. But I understand that the issue from FLL is the number of gates available.. BGI has been ripe for a FLL service for some time..

This was and is huge. Haven't seen too many interline bags as of yet but it'll catch on quick as all of our other interline agreements have. I was really glad to see us get LAN. Great move to open up SA.

As for the thread stater. Airline employees will only be able to tell you rumors and if what they say is fact, then that airline needs to secure up there Corporate Real Estate department. Usually what does well at JFK most of the time goes to BOS, MCO and FLL but mostly BOS. All I'm saying is don't buy into what some employee said too much.

Several planned for 2011 have been pushed back to 2012 in favor of opportunistic SJU expansion
