I had a look for a current thread but could only find an archived one
TAM CEO: Latam & Plans For 2011 (more GIG-FRA/JFK) (by LipeGIG Dec 22 2010 in Civil Aviation)?threadid=5017086&searchid=5017086&s=LATAM#ID5017086
as that is archived I could not add to it , apologies if there is another current thread out there on the proposed LATAM merger
I noticed this item has been added to the LATAM website within the last couple of days
.....Chile’s antitrust court, on a majority vote (three votes against two),
confirmed its decision of January 28th 2011 regarding the combination between
LAN and TAM in terms that the transaction should be submitted to the
ordinary consultation proceeding before the antitrust court......As anticipated last
January, when the TDLC decided to submit the proposed transaction between LAN and TAM to
a consultation process, LAN expressed that the required process would inevitably delay the
implementation of the transaction. However , as of today , it is not possible to assure with any reasonable degree of certainty how long the process will take or when the approval , if granted , will be given . At this stage, if approved by the TDLC, LAN believes that
the transaction would not take place, earlier than the fourth quarter of 2011. ...
If I understood this correctly it means that from the Chilean side there is likely to be a substantial delay in any approvals .
The LATAM website is frustratingly silent on the progress of approvals in other countries , I believe that significant approvals have been made by some agencies in Brazil , but that others are still necessary . Does anyone have an accurate summary of what stage approvals are at in other relevant countries ? ( I assume that as well as Chile and Brazil there would need to be approvals from authorities in Paraguay , Argentina , Ecuador and Peru because of PZ , 4M , XL and LP ) ?
