Yesterday I was spottng at SFO and I saw a brand new Virgin 744 from LGW G-VLIP "Hot Lips" arrive at SFO. Very Strange I thought 747-200s were on the route but then I saw that the 744 has been coming a couple times this week. But today I was in my back yard and I saw the 747-200 going to LGW. It's strange. Does anybody know something about it?

Michael,

What time did you see the 744 arrive yesterday? Are you sure it was the LGW flight and not the LHR flight?

The LGW flight VS041 arrives at 3:20pm and departs as VS042 @ 5:55pm and normally operates with the B742.

The LHR flight VS019 arrives at 1:50pm and departs as VS020 at 4:30pm.

If it was the LGW flight, maybe it was an equipment substitution. The flight is still scheduled in the computer as a B742.

Richard,

It was comming and going to LGW. I was there with Michael. We were both a little shocked to see such a new 744 in SFO.

The company is using a combination of B744 and B742 a/c on this route, subject to availability.

I think they are training new 744 pilots on the route. A new pilot hella missed while landing. he was hella bad.

I doubt they would train new 744 pilots on a revenue flight.

Well not train but those are their first flights so they gotta still get used to it.
