Last night, I just opened website around 9pm it was fine. Later, I opened around 10pm. It was down. This morning is still down. Right now, this afternoon, still down! What is going on it takes so long? Is anyone know about this website is broken down server or new upgrade United system?

Thanks,

Big777jet,

I get on UAL.com almost all the time and yes, sometimes the site is down when I get on. But when I get back on and it is up again, there is usually a change in pricing. So I am assuming that they may be updating their servers to change pricing, update E-Fares, tally up and send out account balance info for Mileage Plus members and general cache cleaning. But yes it is frustrating for someone who wants fares ASAP and cannot wait more than 30 minutes to get them. That happened to me once and I just flew American. I later checked and UAL wound up being cheaper by only $11 or something like that. Oh well!

Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

I figure it out myself. I found that my favorite place is not correct. United has been changed website address is now http://ual.com mine was before shows http://www.ual.com. They took it out (www). It doesn't make a sense!! I got through without www. It works : http://ual.com now. What is a wasting my time!

That's called TCP/IP routing. the site has NEVER been down, rather it's your router failing to recognize it or due to net traffic.

ual.com is used primarily as a domain for employee e-mail but it gets forwarded to united.com as the default.

In regards to pricing, it depends on what is available. They may only have "10" W class seats available on a flight and if they sell out, they sell out and you have to get a higher fare normally in V or M fare buckets.

Right now at 10PM , it is working very WELL! It came through fast pop up menu and all menu is working well. Almost 24 hours something is wrong with it. The address is http://ual.com not including www. I don't understand why.

Thanks,

the website update can be done at anytime and sits on 2 different servers which are seperate from the private WAN that powers UA's pricing and flight systems.

What i'm saying could be happening is that someone puts in united.com and it doesn't come up due to tons of network traffic... down here in florida, i can't get cnn.com or even msnbc.com but my friends in chicago and NY can...
