Anyone know of what operators are operating on behalf of the UN in DRC? I was thinking it could possibly be a CRJ with the passenger load?

Perhaps they're all using Reuters' news report. And...CR3? Oh well, these mistakes happen a lot these days.

May all the victims RIP.

RIP to everyone involved.

Weather around the time of the incident looked bad, but at the same time the winds appear to have been well within limits, a microburst maybe????

The ASN link is reporting 29 dead, and 3 survivors.

CNN headline is reporting 32 dead and 1 survivor - but their story still says 10.

There is only one survivor. If the meteo is right, one has to wonder why did the pilot chose to land in such horrible conditions. RIP to the victims and my condolences to the families left behind.

According to The New York Times, "The United Nations conducts hundreds of flights a week in Congo...."

Does anyone have more information on UN flight operations in the DRC?

Not flights per se but the UN Mission in the Congo includes over 20,000 international personnel between uniformed troops and international civilians and over 2,000 local civilian employees.

In a nation where air transport is the only reliable method to move folks around - there has to be a substantial avaition capability.
