Hi all,
I will be traveling on AM flt. 441 from JFK to MTY in a couple of weeks, and I'm hoping someone knows the answers to these questions. Thanks in advance.
1. Why does JFK-MTY take 4 1/2 hours when MTY-JFK takes 4 hrs? I know it has to do with the routing, but 1/2 hour seems a big difference. Does anybody know the flight plan?
2. The A/C is an MD88, but do they ever use a 757 or 767? Is the flight crowded?
3. Why is there no movie? I thought since this is an international flight and is 4 hrs long, AM would provide some entertainment.
4. My tickets say Clase Premier, does that mean anything? As far as I know, I did not pay for business class, just coach.

If it's an MD-80, chances are there's no movie, international or not.

No, MD-80's series aircraft don't have entertainment unless you are flying on first class in which, AM will give you a portable mini movie T.V.
If you're flying on Classe Premier, then you are booked on AeroMexico's business class. However, don't just base it on your ticket jacket, base it on what the class code states on your ticket.
The reason for the different time period flying east/west (I believe) has to do with the jet streams. The plane gets to ride on the faster winds flying a northeast route. This provides the plane a free push that cuts the flying time.
I presume that AM will not upgrade their GDL-MTY-JFK route any time soon. Hopefully, they can manage to keep it at a brake even point because according to their website, that route is always on sale. Don't know what exactly they intend to do if the route doesn't show a profit. But this is only speculative information, please provide a trip report with the load factor for your round trip flights so that we can find out more about this interesting route.
