I'll try to recap the last few posts..

--The Club at RDU opens May 1
--CLT and GSO are in for new air traffic control towers
--DL at GSO will be up to 5 daily mainline flights in the new future
--ILM Air show was the weekend of Apr 15
--GSO saw some WN aircraft at TIMCO recently
--GSP will see 2 mainline upgrades from DL

Would love to hear more from the South Carolina airports and the smaller NC airports.. Any further updates?

Thanks for starting a new thread. Had to listen to that song also...

GSO has a daily A320 from DL and a few DC9s. Looks like their filling up all the mainline and I'm sure the medallion guys are happy.

At the earliest the new tower will be done is 2019. So a long ways off but designing will begin in 2014.

Forgive my ignorance but what's the point of opening a premium lounge in a terminal that will eventually be used by Southwest/AirTran exclusively?

Both airlines carry their fair share of business pax. It is those pax and the occassional leisure that the Club is going for. Well, at least in my opinion...

As I asked in the other thread before it closed (but didn't get an answer due to the closing):

Anybody know how aviation in Eastern NC was effected by the severe storms we had on 4/16? Any damage at RDU or even at smaller fields like KTTA or Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional?

Haven't heard of any damage and couldn't find anything online. Probably minor wind damage at some airports.

Was it just me that got the email YESTERDAY that the Club at RDU opened? I thought it wasn't supposed to open until May 1? Can anyone confirm?

Also, today is the last day of RDU-RSW. I don't know if this is permanent (a la MSY) or temporary (a la LAX), but it is the lost of another route..

how many more routes could be lost soon? with oil prices going up, which are the highest risk?

So I have some OAJ (Jacksonville, NC) news...

They will be the next city in NC to get a FAA Tower. When this will happen I do not know. I live in ILM as most of you know and Wilmington Tower handles giving IFR clearances out of OAJ. ILM handles all the approaches into and departures out of the airport. ILM is almost a Class C airspace. We're one of only 2-3 Tersa's left east of the Mississippi. The tower may happen during the new terminal building and other upgrades.

I hope all is well with everyones airports. This new thread has had a slow start.

The fifth mainline doesn't seem to be loaded in the schedule yet. Beginning to doubt it will happen. But hey, four mainlines daily isn't bad when not long ago GSO was all CRJ (and 80% CRJ200) to ATL.

4 is definitely better then it was for a while. DL has always been better with mainline. Hopefully the new United will have mainline to ORD, yet I doubt it. The ORD route has been rough lately with only ERJs and CRJ200s.
