At about 8:30pm I was sitting outside on the patio enjoying a nice cold beverage when I looked up and noticed what I thought was someone pulling a prank again by attaching a flare to a balloon and releasing it. However when it came closer to me, I noticed that not only was this "Orange light" going about 300+ knots, but it was at around 4,000 feet climbing fast and increasing in speed. It was able to easily pass under a CRJ in the pattern for landing on the 25's.

I know people may think I'm strange, weird or other, but I know what I saw. I didn't see any strobes or beacon. I can relate it closely to afterburners on an F-16 but with no sound.

I checked flightaware and nothing showed up. Could this have been a prank or some sort of plane that may have had something burning off as it was leaving PHX. Any information may help. I took a 5 second video but was very bad and grainy. In total, it screeched across the PHX sky in about 30 seconds and it was gone.

Seems like these lights in the sky is a recurring problem for PHX:

Big one which made the press from 1997:

What were those lights in the Phoenix sky?

Mysterious lights in Phoenix sky 'a nonissue,' FAA says

Pattern altitude is 3-4000 feet for the 25s, so I don't know how a fast-mover could have passed easily under one, especially if it was climbing.

I'm going with a meteor, since there wasn't any wind last night.
