I am flying positve space on AF from CDG to FCO and TXL

an AF agent informed me that they disallow standby travel and i would have to pay the change of ticket fee to take an earlier flight that day. She said since I was an airline employee they may make an excpetion but the policy is no standy travel on earlier flights. is she/I confused (language barrier) or is this indeed the policy
