An interesting video shows the new traffic pattern for OSL.

According to OSL the new pattern will reduce CO2 emission, reduce noise and increase capacity at the airport.

The changes include changed runway use and a new system called Point Merge. OSL is the first airport in the world to implement this system.

It's better to ask a stupid question during training, rather than make a REALLY stupid mistake later on!

Thank you for posting another video Part147. Does anyone know how many flights are needed until OSL the new Point Merge can operate at full capacity? Right now there is a restriction with delays during heavy afternoon arrivals.

Thanks to the new system I have been delayed every single morning flight since it was introduced in April. Not an immediate success I would say...

To be honest I don't think there is any reduction in CO2 emissions so far, because on my flights in to OSL (10 since start up) we have descended earlier than we used to and thus flying longer at lower altitude.

I spoke to a captain on one of my flights and he stated that they have to take on more fuel to compensate for the longer flight time.

I too wonder how long this "reduced capacity" crap will go on.
