Last day of BFL-LAS service on G4 will be June 26. The flights have only operated 6 months, starting in November 2010.

The reason cited for cancellation (and not simply low season suspension) is low market demand combined with fuel prices.

With the loss of this flight BFL now only has service to Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The BFL international terminal/customs facility has not had a carrier since 2008.

Not too surprising considering the distance between the two destinations.

Quoting FATFlyer (Thread starter):
combined with fuel prices.

It is somewhat hard to believe that fuel cost are the main reason for withdrawing from such a short route even if the M80 is quite a guzzler compared to the B737NG ir A320.

I wonder if LAS-TWF is next? I've heard the loads aren't doing so well

Well they are suspended from Aug to Nov now, and I too assume they will not return. Poorly planned route addition from the start IMO.

It is only about a four hour drive although if there is any traffic at all it is a real pain in the a** on the two lane section of Highway 58 between Mojave and Barstow. I drove that the Sunday after Thanksgiving, thank goodness I was headed towards Vegas because there was a 15-20 mile backup of people headed back to the bay area. On the other hand, G4 does count on ancillary revenue to make flights work and if you are coming from BFL you are probably looking for a cheap hotel room, no rental car, no tours, none of the extras that actually make money for G4.
