Does anyone know where the very large fleets of ATR42/72 aircraft are going as they are being replaced by regional jets? Could these aircraft end up being operated in third world countries where they probably be well suited to the short airstrips?

I do not think that a withdraw of ATR's 42/72 is going to happens so soon. Basicly is a good aircraft with good skills and it will find places in many other fleets as time pass by. Replacing with RJ's is effective but I think that the ATR will resist for some long time ahead.
