Tomorrow (24th of May) Airbus will deliver Korean Air's first A380-800 at a ceremony in Toulouse starting at 13:00 UTC.

The aircraft, HL-7611, will be in a very low density configuration with only 407 seats (12F, 94C and 301Y) featuring Korean Air's new cabin products. See the seat map below:

http://www.koreanair.com/local/eu/gd/eng/au/of/au_of_10.jsp

The aircraft will initially be deployed on one daily rotation from Seoul ICN to Tokyo NRT (morning) and Hong Kong (afternoon).

Subsequently the route network for the A380 fleet will be expanded to cover Bangkok, New York JFK and Los Angeles.

Airbus will be broadcasting the delivery ceremony live on their website, www.airbus.com at 13:00 UTC tomorrow.

This thread should be an opportunity to discuss the delivery and future use of the aircraft. Congratulations to both Airbus and Korean Air!!

Are we going to see this beauty at the A380 capital of the world LHR in the future?

I'm impressed by the 34" seat pitch in the back two sections of Economy. It's like the Air NZ of old.

Interesting comparing this to the new SQ 380 config;

New SQ; 12R / 86C / 311Y
KE; 12F / 94C / 301Y

Looks like both are counting on some premium heavy routes.

What is also positive about this delivery is the fact that Korean Air will receive their next A 380s relatively fast:

MSN 039, KE # 2 and future - HL-8226 arrived in XFW on January 17th 2011, almost exactly 2 months after MSN 035
MSN 059, KE # 3 and future HL-7613 arrived in XFW on February 16th 2011
MSN 068, KE # 4 and future HL-7614 arrived in XFW on March 17th 2011
So almost every month one A 380 for KE.

MSN 075 and KE # 5 made its first flight on May 16th 2011 and will arrive in XFW soon as well.

That A380 sure looks gorgeous. It looking all shiny and stuff makes it look like a big lolly.

It will be interesting to see what kind of a show KE put on to celebrate the arrival of this giant. When you look at the celebration SQ and QF put on KE have a lot to live up to.

That's the best looking A380 yet - nice to see the big bird wearing a bit of colour and a lot less white.

Come on Qantas - when are you to give us an A380 Wunala Dreaming?????? - that would be superb!!!!!!

I've never been taken with the A380's appearance, but must admit that, from that angle and in those colors, the KE bird looks pretty fetching.

Hopefully, other airlines will make a similar move away from the boring white-white-white which is so prevalent today.

Even at 407 seats KE feels they can make money with the A380. Speaks to its versatility.

I had a look at that a bit earlier... Interior looks fresh and great.. Economy seats look like nothing out of the ordinary apart from the better pitch... Love the in flight shop though. Will give passengers an excuse to get up and move around more, which on long haul flights is always good.
