Anyone know if these guys are thinking about bringing back TIJ-OAK? IT seems they have so many destinations out of TIJ that there would be tons of connection potential there... maybe even PDX, SEA, etc... Even just for vacationers - as long as the word "Tijuana" is kept on the down-low....

Volaris is filling the MX void quite nicely, if I do say so myself. LAX and ORD were by far the largest U.S. outstations for MX, both seeing service from a variety of VFR interior Mexican markets. Y4 is already serving a flew of Mexican cities from LAX, and now that MDW-GDL is already going to be 2x daily, it looks like MDW expansion could be next!
Flying in the middle seat of coach is much better than not flying at all!

Good to see Volaris applying for MLM-MDW. Hope they start the route soon. Fares to MLM from Chicago aren't cheap. I wonder whenever they decide to open Morelia will they open it together with another of the routes they applied for from Chicago; CUN, PVR or ZCL.

I agree, people from that state are sure going to welcome this non-stop destination back to Chicago.
For the moment Volaris can't fly into MTY or apply for the route from Chicago. Aeromexico, Mexicana and Viva Aerobus all hold the route authorities MTY-Chicago. Once August 29th comes around and there is no MX flying Y4 can apply. AM is to start ORD-MTY-BJX July 4th. Viva hasn't stated when they will open the route and to which airport they will fly to.

If I recall correctly, this route was plagued with difficulties. There were many schedule changes, cancelled flights, poor loads...The new stragedy is run flights directly to GDL, MEX or other cities and not hub in Tijuana.

The route had issues, didn't seem to do well, and did not last long. I would be very surprised if they tried this again. Plus, even though I haven't been to Rodriguez for many, many years, my impression is that it is a pretty "basic" airport and not really geared toward connecting pax traffic.
Also, remember that WN runs about 11 daily r/t between SAN and OAK (similar service between LAX and OAK as well as between So Cal and places like PDX and SEA), and has some sort of alliance with Y4, so I would expect them to at least give that a try before committing to several international service from TIJ. Just my thoughts.
