It looks like one of the wrinkles the regulating authorities find on the LAN-TAM merger is the potential monopoly on this route. On the good chance the LAN-TAM merger proceeds, what will the authority require (on this route) LATAM to do in order to regulate such monopoly. What about new carriers interested on starting the route, right now we hear that SKY Airline (H2) and GOL (G3) want to start the route. G3 used to operate the route but dropped the nonstop a while back. What about other carriers such as LH, BA, even UA, Would there be enough room for everyone? Can either H2 or G3 become the substitute feeder for Star Alliance due to lack of similar products (i.e: First class, schedules, etc…)? Your thoughts….
