Heard a rumor from a buddy of mine who was diverted to MSN that apparently an RJ in MKE had a gear issue and either landed gear up, or had one fold up on on the runway. Has anyone heard any info on it? It apparently happened an hour or so ago!

Edited title to reflect the incident!

Wondering the same thing as I live in MKE. This is the only thing I've found:

I can't remember off the top of my head which routes skywest flies for DL into MKE. I'll start digging.

Well, its looks like we might have a winner, from CVG, it did a number of holding patterns around MKE before proceeding inbound, my guess they were unable to extend the gear, proceeded gear up! Gotta love Flightaware!

Edited: Or I could have just looked at the link, Thanks for the info!

Apparently the airport had to close because the other main runway is currently under construction. Did this end up causing any diversions?

Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

US 128 PHX-MKE is enroute and scheduled into MKE at 2350 Central Standard Time

If this craft has not diverted it would appear the airport is open again.

American MD-80 diverted to ORD. F9 145 from OMA went to MSN. Delta A319 from DTW returned to DTW. I'm sure there are a few more.

Per the updated article from jsonline, I think it's flight OO 4443 from CVG. Glad the plane landed safely and the passengers are safe. Looks like the pilot made a few go-rounds - presumably to burn off fuel? Anyway, kudos to the crew for getting the plane down safely.

Airport is not accepting arrivals yet. F9 E190 from SAN in holding pattern. US CRJ from CLT in pattern, may be going to ORD now.

I believe Skywest from CLE diverted to ORD, but then flew up to land on runway 13. Can't be sure, though. Interesting night indeed.

I am putting money on MSP or ORD.

Official release from Skywest, though no new info at the moment. However, it seems as if they have cleared it off of the runway, as it appears the airport is now open. Hopefully daylight will bring about new info as to whether it was a gear collapse or not!

The airport is indeed open again, however all operations are being conducted on RWY 13! I have NEVER seen this runway in use at MKE before nor have I ever seen MKE this active after midnight!! Very interesting listening to liveatc.net right now... lots of coordination and vectoring going on to get everyone lined up for 13.

[Edited 2011-06-06 22:21:47]

Lots of crazy things happening.. just heard Delta 1715 on final get visual approach clearance for rwy 13 with opposite direction traffic (SKW 387U) landing on rwy 31! Now I wish I could be out there to watch all of this!

Some more info and a video of the aftermath. Apparently one person was hospitalized with minor injuries. Sounds like it was a busy night for MKE!

I remember back in the day YX's B1900s sometimes used 13.
