On my daily commute down 101 past Moffet, the last 2 days there has been a large cargo (?) plane parked on the far taxiway. Speeding by at a blissful 45-mph, I can't get a good look at this jet. Can someone possibly identify it for me? I'm curious.
It's a large overwing jet (sort of like an Anotov or a blown-up EMB-145) with 4 engines. Painted white with a blue trim and I can't make out the flag or ID from 101.

I haven't seen it, but from your decription, it sounds like an Antonov An-124.

I was in San Jose two years ago and during the week I was there an An-124 was at Moffet for 3 days. I think that NASA may use it for heavy lifting in and out of the reseach center.

I just returned from Moffet to get a closer look off of Mary Ave. (behind Lockheed Martin off of Mathilda) and there are now two of these bigguns parked on the ramp. Great photo opportunities abound if some of you south-bay'ans want to go by.
