This is a great story. The original Art Deco terminal of KNEW is being refurbished back to its original luster. Plans are for the terminal to house office space as well as a cafe and restaurant. The terminal was opened in 1934 and it handled commercial flights to the city until MSY was opened in 1946. I remember my grandparents used to take me out there all the time as a kid to have lunch at the Walnut Room restaurant, which overlooked the field.

So many awesome details in that building! I love Art Deco design, and that building looks truly amazing (or at least it will when they are done fixing it up)! Hopefully I'll make it over there if I get sent back to MSY this year (which will probably be in the fall sometime).

I thought this image was interesting ... it looks like a 727 falling from the sky? Either this wallpaper is a later addition or some artist had a pretty good vision of the future... those jet engines are convicing, minus the non-swept wings...
