Whats the progress on the new pier at STN?
Is it still under-construction? Will it be accessed via the transit train? Will it be a FR only pier?

I don't know why they're building a new pier, passenger figures have gone down 6.9% in the last two years - it's peak was 23 million a year, now it's just 18 million.

The area for SAT4 has been waste ground for many years now. The only progress thats happened is the stands have been laid around it.

If and when the airports sold (rumoured to be November latest this year) we shall see what happens then.

Why have PAX numbers dropped so much? Are Ryanair's cutbacks to blame alone?

I was wondering the same. I'm sure FR have got some influence on it, given that they grounded some planes over the winter months, but there must be other airlines as well which have caused this drop in figures.

It's not being built at the moment and if Ryanair do eventually use it when it's built there will be no access by train as they won't pay for it. Stansted's traffic has collapsed as every major airline who isn't FR or EZY has moved elsewhere with FR retracting the size of the base and now EZY splitting the operation with SEN.
