ok i have a slight problem.

Just received my itenery for my trip to Canada (Jasper) in December. Everything is ok except the flights.

From To Depart Arrive
19-DEC-2001 Manchester Calgary 10:45 13:15
29-DEC-2001 Calgary Manchester 15:15 06:45

Am i right in thinking that these flights are actually the times for MAN-YYZ? I know there is an Air Canada flight from Manchester to Toronto Departing Manchester at 10:45am and arriving at 1:20pm so i guess that they are dumping us at Toronto and making us find our own way there OR we get a connecting flight to YYC that they haven't told us about.

Something looks a bit sus, can anyone help me out?

Thanks,

Regards Dan

Is this a charter flight?

The times look right. They are local times.

What Airline are you flying? If it is Airtours I believe they have direct flights from Man to YYC for the winter ski season. Monarch also but I believe that is from LGW. Flight Times from Europe to Calgary are not much different or longer then Toronto as to get to Calgary the planes typically fly more of "great circle routing" over the North.

I don't know about Manchester, but flying from Amsterdam, flights to Calgary are easily a healthy 2 hours longer.

Did you take into account that Calgary is in a different time zone from Toronto? (I believe Calgary is -8 from CET, Toronto is -6?), so the flight could be 2 hours longer while arriving at the same local time?

Regards

Ikarus

No nothing to do with that. More like i checked at various sources and they have informed me that there is a flight to Toronto leaving at that time from Manchester on that date, that arrives at Toronto at the same time.

Surely this is not just a coincidence?! Two flights set off at the same time for the same country, and through two time zones land at exactly the same local time!?!?

Odd if it is true!

Cheers,

Dan

These flight times are non-stop from MAN to YYC.
This flight flown by Airtours B767-300 and is flown only in winter (Ski season).
Besides, with those times you won't even have time to stop at YYZ.
Welcome to Canada, I hope you will enjoy your stay!

EGGD, it seems that like many visitors from smaller countries, you've made a common miscalculation of distances-it's a bit of a long distance to just "find" your way from Toronto to Calgary... several days of driving, to say the least. I'm sure your flight would be to YYC. You'll find that even from Calgary to Jasper is a few hours of driving  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Enjoy the trip!

The flight duration looks right to me.....but I'm no expert. I do live in YYC though. Don't they go over the arctic to cut time and distance on direct flights from England to the western half of North America?

How long are you staying in YYC? Or are you heading straight to Jasper after the flight?

Well if you're spending any decent amount of time at YYC, let me know, I'd be happy to show some good spots. I'm at YYC like every second day anyway lol

Cheers,

Kris
