I do as well and I love the irony of the AA order---as one Wall Street analyst said of AA's massive new order: we think they should concentrate on making money with their existing fleet before embarking on such a masive replacement schedule.....

SWA just sits back and quietly makes money........

Right, August 4th because they are combining Air Tran's financial results as well. This will be the first time for WN to report financial results including AirTran.

Maybe, I don't know. My first impression is that WN wouldn't combine the two numbers if FL dragged them down to the point where WN would lose money combined where WN would have made money independently. So I'd say that the combined numbers will show a profit.

On the other hand, we aquired them in May which is only 2 months out of the 3 month quarter. Wouldn't be a fair indication to combine them. Plus WN hasn't really don't anything with FL yet, financially. We aren't codesharing or anything.

Or perhaps they WILL show both carriers independently.

While the merger will certainly add expenses, and Airtran was not very strong profitability wise especially in a high fuel environment, analyst opinion is that SWA will still manage to register a Q2 profit in the region of about $140mil.
