That is coooool!
Really great to hear that Boeing knows which airports are the best ones. Obviously SRQ is far more friendlier than TPA, yuck!
Best manufacturor choses Floridas best airport!
Some people don't get it. Business is about making MONEY!

You know RSW, MLB and JAX are pretty good too. MIA's north terminal is also very nice. Although the rest of it is still normal.

Chances are TPA will see far more 787's in the future than SRQ can even dream of. (keeping UA's ,outsourced, maintenance facilities in mind).

Really? Yuck? Someone must have done something terrible to you and hurt your feelings somehow. TPA is definitely not a "yuck" airport. It still gets me from my plane seat to my car on the 4th level within 5 minutes!
SRQ can hardly get me anywhere, really, as compared to TPA. SRQ may appear "friendlier" cuz they got nothing to do all day...

Question Conventional Wisdom. While not all commonly held beliefs are wrong…all should be questioned.

Anybody know if this airplane is doing a tour of the US? I'd like to walk in one these beasts again. I would definitely take a couple hours of vacation time from work to see the 787 again!

Where will the 787 be going after Sarasota? Are there any other tests planned in the region?

Having read the useless article, catiii's question remains unanswered...
Can ANYONE tell us why the Dreamliner stopped in SRQ? (It sounds to me like it was just a fuel/rest stop on the trip from LIM to SEA and maybe SRQ was chosen because the pilot has friends or family there?)

I've heard once completion of the flight test program is imminent, the planes would fly to the hometowns of the pilots and test engineers.

That's what it was, plane originated in LaPaz, Bolivia, fueled up in Lima, and due to crew duty issues was limited as to how far the aircraft could fly. Sarasota is a small airport, you can do a lot more things at small airports, and avoid a lot of other things. So Sarasota was chosen for convience.

Took of on runway 14 at 1322 EDT bound for BFI. Crew actually did a double wing dip as soon as they were airborne. Those wings curving up as lift increases is really a sight to see.

It was all about customs, hotels, and services provided by KSRQ.
25 exFATboy: Do you have a source for that? There's no mention of any provision of services being funded by SRQ or any local businesses in any of the reports I've
26 calpilot: Yes; the crew, I was on the airplane at srq.[Edited 2011-07-30 15:32:33][Edited 2011-07-30 15:35:57]
