Lufthansa A319s

I keep reading in all the aviation magazines that Lufthansa is leasing out several of their A319s this summer to Air Malta and others. What's the problem? Have they a surplus of aircraft at this time of the year??

Does anyone know the longer-term short-haul-fleet plans of LH? At the moment it seems they are holding on to their 733s and 735s for the medium term at least, while reducing the 319s.

LH is only temporatily reducing its a319 fleet. as airsicknessbag pointed out, Lufthansa suffers a lack of cockpit crews...

Unfortunately they wanna have pilots with an eyesight of +/- 1 diop. only.
Might try out for LHC though.

3 A319 aircraft will be handed over to Khalifa. One of those aircraft is the D-AILK which is flying in full Khalifa colors (looks very nice!).

The problems LH have are easy to explain. They ordered planes but they don't have the crews to fly them. LH has a big problem to get two guys in the Cockpit.

Maybe it will help that LH will pay their pilots better now... Does anybody know for how long those A319s will be operated by Khalifa? I know that Air Malta uses the A319 to check out if they should go A320 or 737NG. And as much as I know they also have a 737NG on lease from some airline. So that A319 shouldn't be gone for so long...
