Great special on the US Air Force One on National Geographic the other night.

While I think the livery is appropriate, maybe it's time for an update. Any of you livery-designing guys have any suggestions?

BTW, just got the trial version of Adobe Illustrator, downloaded some vectored drawings from Airbus and had a ball!

I disagree. I think the current scheme is beautiful, and it is known around the world. Why mess with perfection?

My two cents.

I think the current scheme is awesome.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the current scheme, and its' previous incarnation on the Boeing 707, was designed by none other than First Lady Jackie Kennedy?

As a memory to Jacki Kennedy they need to keep this scheme. While other world leaders fly in planes that have bland paintscheme we've got the best.

I think the design was commissioned by Mrs. Kennedy, but as I recall the designer was Raymond Loewy (sp)

Yes, it was Raymond Loewry...while working for Walter Teague & Assoc. (world famous industrial designers)came up with this timeless design.
It's goal was to be bold, and instantly identifiable.

It achieves both. It needs no revision.

Puhleez.

Get your itchy livery-changing trigger fingers off of AirForce One. Everyone on here is so livery obsessed - its like they just wanna see something new and pretty every single day (low attention span of the MTV generation, maybe??).

Just leave well enough alone.

I've never liked the livery, but then I haven't liked some of the yahoos that get to ride in it, either.

I remember somebody drew an Airforce one livery that had longhorns sticking out on the top and a sign that says, "Don't mess with Texas". Obviously this is when George W. was elected.
I don't mind this livery, but there have been some presidents that I don't think deserved to fly in it.

I wish they would have kept the 707-320C. She was Beautiful in those colors.

Keep the Lowey scheme! It's a classic! I think that the 747 is a very difficult airplane to design a scheme for. It looks fine.

It is truly one of the most, if not the most, recognized livery in the skies. It is very unique and easily identifiable. Like others have said, it is truly timeless and a classic.
