I have numerous old timetables that make reference to Eastside and Westside Air Terminals in New York City. Did the airlines maintain check-in counters there where you could get you boarding pass, drop-off your luggage then just board the bus to the airport? Or was it just a bus stop? Fare for example: $1.75 to Idlewild or a Helicopter ride was available for $7.00 and if you had to go between terminals at Idlewild.......$0.25 on the bus.

Good question. I'm guessing you could check baggage there, at least. Until when, I wonder?

East Side terminal was built... 1940? on the SW corner of Park-42nd St. When they demolished it (late 1960s?) they built another terminal? Nearer the Q-M tunnel?

Wonder how early you were supposed to arrive at the terminal.

Google-fu delivers this article, showing the last terminal between 37th and 38th Streets from First to Second Avenues:

Turns out the 1940 East Side Terminal wasn't demolished until 1978, tho its terminal replacement opened on 1st Ave in the 1950s.

West Side Terminal was on the northeast corner? of 10th Ave-42nd St.
