I was wondering, could Double Eagle II Airport (AEG) on the Albuquerque Westside be a future destination for Allegiant? After all, Allegiant is known for going after smaller airports, and AEG would be closer than ABQ for many in Rio Rancho and the Albuquerque Westside.

However, one drawback is that the Albuquerque market is mostly loyal to Southwest, and Allegiant would probably have to provide fares good enough to draw Westsiders to AEG. Also, I am not sure if AEG is capable of handling MD-80s.
