G4 is introducing 4X weekly flights from MBS to SFB starting on November 3rd, 2011.

I think new routes, airlines, and/or increased flight frequencies of current destinations are great for my airport MBS. I can't resist but think this service will NOT be successful and be axed within months of starting. Pardon me for being a pessimist.

However, I wish the MBS-SFB service will exist for the long term.

What are your thoughts on G4's announcement and predictions for the route success?

Maybe MBS will increase passenger yields by years end AND lure some passengers away from FNT.

FNT is the death knell for MBS and LAN because of WN's commitment

Would you care to share why? If they're going in with 4X they're pretty confident there's a market.

FL has carved out a nice market in Eastern Michigan. MBS is an old, rundown terminal whereas FNT has much better facilities.

Nice Trip Report!!! Great Pics, thanks for posting!!!! B747Forever

Well for me, FNT is to MBS and LAN what some Americans think of Wal-Mart to local businesses: The grim reaper of competition.
I think Jeff Nagel of MBS is mistaken to believe a new terminal will somehow attract new airline routes, increased frequencies, and lower landing/departing costs.

I think airtran737 explained why I'm a pessimist regarding this new service for my regional airport.

It's still not bookable on G4's website though

If it only took 2 weeks for G4 to announce PHF-SFB, then I'm sure it won't be much longer until MLI-SFB is announced

Not 4X per week - only 2X per week:

"The new flights will operate two times weekly between MBS International Airport (MBS) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) with service Thursday and Sunday. Flights will depart Saginaw at 11:25 a.m. arriving in Orlando-Sanford at 1:55 p.m. Flights leaving Orlando-Sanford will depart at 8:10 a.m. arriving in Saginaw at 10:45 a.m. (all flight times are local)."

They're building a new one as I type.

If two people agree on EVERYTHING, then one isn't necessary.
