Starting on February 2, 2012, LAN Perú will launch a thrice weekly non-stop service between Lima and Havana utilizing the A-319 a/c. This new service is meant to replace LAN's weekly SCL-HAV service which ended last April. LAN Perú will also increase frequencies to other leisure destinations from its hub at LIM beginning next year. Thus, both LIM-CUN and LIM-PUJ will operate as daily services.

Schedule for LIM-HAV-LIM:
LA2596 LIM 12:25 HAV 17:50 A319 (Mo, Th, Sa)
LA2597 HAV 18:40 LIM 00:05+1 A319 (Mo, Th, Sa)

Link in French:
LAN Airlines retourne à La Havane

Also, during January 2012, LAN Airlines will increase frequency on the SCL-CUN-MIA and SCL-PUJ-MIA routes. Both of these routes will operate 3x weekly seasonally utilizing the B-767-316ER a/c.

This is great news ! Hope to see LAN opening up other Caribbean routes from LIM.

San Andrés Island would be a great addition but since LAN is currently 'establishing' LAN Colombia (Aires) I'm not sure if we will ever see that route from LIM.

Excelent news!!! Good to hear the operations from my favority South American city are expanding

Still waiting for the LP LIM-SJO-LIM flight!!! Only TA flying it, with super expensive fares. This route seriously needs a competition.

Slightly off topic, but is this why I almost had a heart attack yesterday when I priced TA from Tegucigalpa to Bogota and was quoted $890 in economy  Wow! !!!!!!

Totally normal in Central/South America   the market is controlled by only a few airlines, no LCC´s to compete with them. They dictate the fares as they wish. And people have no other choice than to fly with them. Even at these fares, the planes are usually full. I always wait with TA, sometimes they have some nice discounts, but I have never been in a hurry to fly.

LAN will also increase frequencies on several other routes. Starting on October 30th, LAN Perú will operate LIM-MEX daily (B763). Also, both LAN Airlines and LAN Perú will increase frequency on the SCL-LIM route to 8x daily. On February 1st, LAN Perú will resume LIM-IPC 2x weekly (B763) year-round. LAN Perú will also increase frequency on the LIM-COR route to 9x weekly (A319).

It may resume, a lot of flights that were cut are reappearing. LAN Perú is interested in launching a LIM-CBB service which could lead to LIM-IAD. LAN Perú or TAM Airlines Paraguay will most likely launch LIM-ASU during 2012. Plus, LAN Argentina may open a new route between Argentina and Perú...

Well I was very excited to fly a central/south american airline for the first time, then extremely disappointed when I saw the price. I have traveled over the region but have always done it the hard way- overland, while flying in and out on a north american carrier. What I'm going to do is fly back to MIA and take the Avianca flight to BOG. It's not only cheaper, but if I time it right I can fly an A330- would be my first time on a south american airline AND on an A330. BONUS!!!!!!
