Hey All--

Today is the day that Skywest Airlines operations out of MKE doing business for Air Tran has ended due to the Southwest Pilot Contract not allowing RJ flying or Code Sharing ops at this time. Southwest Airlines took over and will be operating MKE-STL, and adding MKE-DEN, while Air Tran has converted MKE-DSM/CAK to mainline operations.

Does any new flights or cities open up on the UA/DL side on Skywest due to the relocation of the CRJ-200's now? What is going on with those folks?

Anyone here affected by the change today or got rebooked or rescheduled?

Alex

How are the DSM-MKE loads? Are they as piss poor as expected? I've always said DSM needs MDW, PHX, and LAS flights on WN, maybe an STL flight...

We've got better scope than a dentist's office!

Anyone in the pilot world knows what that means

They'll be spares until US flying opens up.

Pilots need to find better dentists?

It could very well end up as the worst performing FL route ever given how bad it looks so far. Under no circumstances do I see MKE-DSM lasting past the time WN and FL start codesharing.

Yup, I was the station supervisor in the Omaha station. Spent the entire day tearing apart the station. Quite the sad day.

Absolutely horrendous. Nothing I saw was over 30 per flight for at least two months. This service won't last. If OO couldn't fill 100 seats a day, why would WN/FL think they could fill 238???

They just did it because WN is very concerned with advance bookings and not leaving people high and dry. I'm surprised it is still in their March schedule.

I also heard FL signed an agreement with the airport authority in Des Moines to keep the DSM station open for a minimum amount of time..maybe 2 years?? They're keeping this flight to uphold their end of the contract. Maybe if they shifted the flight from MKE to ATL it would be more successful.

I believe these frames will be be used for OO's PHX operation on behalf of US.

I think it's still intact in the March schedule because it has nothing to do with Southwest being highly concerned about protecting advance bookings.

(1) They did not hesitate to disrupt passengers booked at Omaha, a busier FL* station than Des Moines. AirTran doesn't serve OMA any anyone booked for travel after 9/6 got a refund. (From what I've heard they did not automatically get rebooked to WN.)

(2) There was no need to add CAK-MKE to protect passengers already booked. AirTran still serves Akron, and people already booked on tickets like CAK-MKE-LAS could have been rebooked CAK-ATL-LAS. Yet they added CAK-MKE along with DSM-MKE, and Akron doesn't have a whole lot better chance of supporting 717 to Milwaukee than Des Moines does.

(3) The end of FL* was announced in mid-May. If now...100+ days later...there are only 20-30 pax booked on the 717, how many people were alredy booked on these flights way back in mid May?

(4) The booking window has been pushed out several times, now through the 9th of April, and MKE-DSM/CAK are still there. Since the end of FL* was announced, nearly five months of booking window has been opened up.

I believe that DSM-MKE and CAK-MKE will swtich to DSM-MDW and CAK-MDW as soon as they reasonaly can, not some alturistic effort to avoid displacing the few people who had already booked 100+ days out.

No, I had to switch to UA, so back to the bottom of seniority!
