Why do these two powered G.E DC-10-30 have different engine exhaust tail cones?

Is there a way to tell between CF6 by the tail cone?

The Northwest DC10 is on landing, reverse open ....That's the main difference I can see.

Sabena ... Never to be forgotten (12 years already , what a shame !! )

According to Bill Harms' website, the engines on these DC-10s pictured are as follows:

NWA CF6-50C
AOM CF6-50C2B

ATA JT9D-20
JAL JT9D-59A

I'm not current on the DC-10s (so I'll defer to anyone that is), but it appears that the differences are related to the engine variant installed...

I recall reading an article in Science & Vie ( french magazine) about 15 years ago on the CF6-50 engines
of the A300 and it seems that newer versions (early 80') of that engine had shorter exhaust to improve economy & noise ---
Again, this was a while ago so I'm not sure
