Are there any Skyservice flights out of YQG (Windsor, ON) this summer? I know there are going to be 3 flights a week from YQG to Cancun, Puerto Plata, and Varadero in the winter, but I know those exact same destinations are also served this summer, athough the website I found the winter flights on (see: http://www.sunquest.ca/destinations/windsordepartures.asp ) doesn't mention anything about it. Anyone knows what airline flyes those routes right now? Anyone knows the days of service and the exact departure and arrival times? Any other info on charter flights to/from YQG would also be greately appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I thought those flights from YQG are winter only?
Unfortunately SSV seems very difficult to get schedule info out of. I guess that's because it's all chartered by the travel agencies, but still, they could promote their operations a little more (just try to find the info on their western departures - that's even tougher!)

SSV's sun flights from YQG begin in the winter. Here in YOW they start in December. I'm looking forward to seeing them here as they have never flown to YOW before. I bet you'll be quite impressed seeing 320s in YQG. I'm actually going to be flying from YOW to YQG in a few weeks time. Why did Air Ontrario drop the nonstop YQG-YOW flights? Surely there are enough pax on the route to justify nonstop service. The latest YQG-YOW stats that I have from 1997 show 14,000 O+D pax a year.

Yeah, it would be nice seeing an A320 in YQG. The only scheduled pax service here is Air Ontario from YYZ with their Dash-8's. Canjet tried flying twice daily to YYZ and YUL but that didn't work out. We do get an occasional AN-124 and IL-76 (apparantely, one IL-76, leased by Skylink aviation, is based at YQG, but I haven't seen it yet, but I'm not really a spotter). Why are you going to Windsor, Yow?
Anyways, can anyone help me with the arrival and departure times of those flights? I know that the flight to Cuba will arrive on Thursdays (starting in late December) at 1:45PM and depart at 2:45PM. How about the other two?

LY744 I'm flying to YQG to visit relatives of mine that live in Detroit. I could fly NW nonstop from YOW to DTW, but there are a number of reasons why I don't. First, they're more expensive than AC, AC has better service, I get Aeroplan points with AC (I'm not a member of worldperks) and the aircraft are better, a 762 and 320 on the YOW-YYZ and YYZ-YOW segments versus being on a Saab 340 for two hours and I'd take a Dash 8 any day over a Saab.
The main reason though is that they're cheaper than NW.
I hope that WestJet has their sights set on serving YQG as their next eastern city, even if it meant going via YHM.
Why do you think AC dropped the nonstop and 1-stop flights to YOW and YUL. It certainly wasn't due to a lack of passengers. I think it has to do with AC's obsession with their YYZ hub.
I heard that the chopped YXU-YYC loads were 74%. They must of cut it to annoy people and to protect YYZ. If an airline can't make money with a 74% load factor there's something really wrong.
Sorry, I've gone way off topic from your original question; I'm just annoyed about losing YQG nonstop service, as I'm sure you are as well. I'll stop now.

That's fine, Yow.
I'll go a little off topic too. I was thinking about the fact that YQG can potentially be an alternative to DTW on certain routes. NW has many flights from DTW to South East Asia, most of AC's Asian flights are from YVR, so maybe a once or twice daily flight from YQG to YVR (connecting to the pacific flight in YVR) can be profitable for AC? The smallest a/c in AC's fleet that can fly YQG-YVR nonstop is the ex-CP 732/adv, it can be used if AC wants to try this route. Besides, there must be some people that would want to travel from Windsor/Detroit to western Canada.
Anyways, the people in AC must have a good reason for not starting flying this route.
Any comments on my "YQG-YVR" fantasy are welcome.
Seeing Westjet in YQG would be just as great.

I suspect that WJ will adding YQG-YHM eventually would be a pretty good bet. YQG-YYC might have potential, too, although YVR seems a bit unlikely unless it was a weekly charter type route with SSV or someone.
I wonder if C3 will consider going into the YQG market? CanJet was a disappointment, but if C3 would put some effort into it there could be decent potential.
Personally I hope LondonAir gets going, haven't heard anything of them for a while but they were planning on flying out of YXU to YTZ, YUL, YOW, YWG and possibly some other cities using RJ's (328JET's I think). If they could be successful on YXU-YWG (which they had proposed to fly) then I think they could try routes out of Windsor as well. If they could feed traffic westward (perhaps C3 could be a prospective partner) I think it could work, I would think RJ service would be sustainable.
