After years of speculation and not being able due to a restrictive bilateral agreement, COPA Airlines will add MTY to its network in the Americas starting in December 2011.

Here a link in Spanish http://mx.noticias.yahoo.com/anuncia...nam%C3%A1-monterrey-235100582.html

MTY airport operator, OMA yesterday also disclosed that flights are real and will start by 11th December.

COPA website does not include yet MTY on its booking machine, but it does include it as a soon-to-be-started destination with the likes of Montego Bay, Asunción and Chicago.

The agreement between Panama and Mexico now allows for up to 70 weekly freq (please confirm), and opens MTY, SJD and PVR as possible gateways.

Good news for MTY, an airport that has lost a lot of international pax in the last two years.

I hope I can now use CM in my flights to deep South America!!!!!!!! Great addition.

Next flight: IAH-DBX-MRU-ANT

great addition indeed... I'm not surprised they're launching MTY but I am surprised they're using the 737 and the Embraers on the route.....

is the demand there for the 737 or is it that the ERJ 190 does not have the performance to do the flight?

Might be some issues with the E190 flying over the middle of the Gulf of Mexico?

I'm not on CM's payroll.

Hmmm, doubt it. AM used to fly MSY-MEX with ERJ-145s, but who knows.
