Hi everyone! I just have a question about Delta's (or any airlines) 757 and the MD80. Which is better for someone who doesn't get to fly much? Yes, my flight search's continue, and for about the same price here is what I found. From RSW to CVG, which is better on Delta, the MD80, or 757? Looking foward to your responses, and yes I'll rememeber not to double post this time... LOL.

I honestly think that the 757 is better, it's bigger too, 40-45 rows or something like that.. I rode on MD80, but i think that 757's are better and AA's stupid little Super80 is stupid

I like them both. The 757 is extremely powerful, nice push on take-off(It is also my favorite airliner), but in the air they are both quiet and smooth. The MD80 is nice if you can get on the side with two seats, especially if the other is empty, very nice. They both have the same type of seats though, so guess it just comes down to which is the best time.

757 is bigger, but I think that the MD-88 is quieter and alot smoother.

Hey, looking foward to your trip report.
FYI-The MD80 flight is at a better time, and goes from RSW-CVG, then CVG-SYR-727
The 757 goes from RSW-ATL (shorter flight), and then from ATL-SYR-727.

I have never flown on the 757, but i think the MD-80 is a great aircraft.. not to mention it is my favourite.. But i dont think it is comparable to the 757, which is bigger and more powerful. The 757 has IFE and the MD-80 doesn't. .

The noise on board the aircraft all depends on where you are. With the engines on the tail of the MD-80, it's quieter on average, but since they're fuselage-mounted, it's a lot noiser to be in the back of an MD-80 than to be by the wing of a 757. I would know, seeing as I've been in both of those places... and I don't even get to fly that much! In case anyone cares, they were from LGA-ATL aboard a DL MD-88, seat 38A (the window seat, but being the last row, there was no window ), and YYZ-ATL aboard a DL 757 (I don't remember the seat number since it was a long time ago, but it was right by the wing). In conclusion though, I'd enjoy both of them! (hey, I don't get to fly much)

Both are absolut fantastic planes. I flew in a MD 80 from CVG-TPA my seat was right between the engine.
Noise, WOW.
Extremly powerful takeoff and climb.
B757 is defintly the smoother choice but just for fun, pic the MD80

I swear, if you pointed the MD-80 straight up, it would fly you to the moon. The takeoff in those things can be like rockets, depending on the mood of the pilot...
My last TWA pilot (MD-82) took us out of STL like we were trying to get away from an earthquake, we soared into the air like I never have before...
But I would take the MD-80. I like 757s also, but the MD-80 is a great aircraft. I prefer the Douglas to the Boeing most days.

Ok, thanks. If I choose this option, it will be with the MD80.

I have a long trip repot on my recent trip on 4 different Delta 757s. It is titled "DL BHM-ATL-SJC-ATL-BHM." I would go with the 757. I enjoyed all my flights.

If you end up with a seat at the back of an MD80, God help you. It'll be one of the worst flights you've had. No windows, and a lot more engine noise.
But, I flew a SpanAir MD83 last year, and had a seat over the wing where there is not a lot of engine noise, certainly less than an over-wing 757 seat.
My advice would be that an MD80 is great, providing that you can confirm you arn't going to be near the back of the airplane. Otherwise, opt for the 757.
