I found this article on today's news. I think it is very interesting and is evidence of two things: The first, that Gol considers Argentina as a very important market. The second, that AR is moving fast towards becoming a serious airline that has codeshare and milage agreements with other carriers, and is trying to leave behind its bad reputation earned during the AA/SEPI and Marsans ownership and management eras.

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

Fascinating investor relations press release from G3, Eddie. This should only increase discussions within the regional aviation community in Latin America that G3 is seriously considering joining a global marketing alliance and that SkyTeam will be that alliance.

The LATAM transaction, along with the operational integration of AV and TA, as well as the eventual incorporation of O6 in Brasil into AV/TA, is making G3 think about its long-term strategy.

This is probably the most interesting element of the announcement. AR, hopefully, appears to be distancing itself from the government's nonstop meddling in its affairs. Economic reality, regional competition, expectations for foreign ownership liberalization in Brasil and elsewhere, open sky agreements, all these developments will eventually reach Argentina.

G3 has seen the writing on the wall and is taking advantage of the current environment, as well they should.

Yes, it was on purpose that I did not mention anything relating to a potential SkyTeam application because I was sure the first reply would put that on the table. I think it is possible, considering that AM-Transportes Aereos Meridionais (Brazil)">JJ is on its way to oneworld and, as you say, O6 will probably end up in Star. Of course G3 might simply be trying to extend its network of relationships like AS, but I think this is just the beginning of a more interesting set of events. Correct me if I am wrong but DL, AF and KL already have codeshares with G3. AM used to have a codeshare agreement with G3 as well, but it seems it was terminated or something. I wonder what happened there. Interesting times for G3 ahead.
