Quoting T prop (Reply 2): So how many does HA have so far?
This is the 5th one. Four more are coming in the first half of next year, then more in 2013 and 2014.

Beautiful! I have always loved Hawaiian's colorscheme. HAL ... how do you like flying the A330? I'm partial to the 767 myself (only as a passenger) but would love to hear your insight on which you prefer, differing quirks, etc. These things fascinate me!
Please direct your attention to the flight attendants in the cabin...

That livery looks very nice on the A330.

Haven't been on one of our 330's yet. I flew the 320 while on furlough a few years back, but will be doing a transition/upgrade to Captain on the 330 early next year. I'll let you all know how it goes once I'm done with training.

What's this one named?
(FlightAware is showing HAL8005 en route from LAX as I type this, ETA 2:52 AM HST. I'm guessing that's the flight for this plane.)

In keeping with the Constellation theme, our newest aircraft is named Hokupa'a, the Hawaiian name for the Constellation Polaris.
SFO will be the next city to see the A330 beginning in November.

I had a bit of an adventure a few months back going to GUM - missed flights, late connects... DCA-IAH-GUM-NRT became DCA-IAH-LAX-HNL-MAJ-GUM.. anyway, I ended up getting transferred from Delta to Hawaiian on the LAX-HNL leg... made it over to T6 with a few minutes to spare and found myself in row 41 on N383HA. Very nice plane. I appreciated the USB plug in the seat, AVOD was nice too.

HA has come a long way since the late 80's when we wouldn't sell them spare parts for their TriStars unless they paid cash!

I can't believe how fast it's being put into service. It landed at 3:04 am, parked at the hardstands for about an hour and then was tugged into gate 26 waiting for it's lucky passengers apparently.

New toy? Hasn't Hawaiian had the A330 in service for at LEAST 1 year?
Weak OP is weak. Call me when they roll in their A350.
25 TrnsWrld: Very slick looking aircraft!!! The A330 remids me of some sort of sleek exotic sports car. Never been on one, but wouldnt mind taking a ride on one
26 joelyboy911: This is the newest delivery. It may not be as outrageously exciting as the EIS of the first of a new type, but it's still an achievement and a milest
27 American 767: Does that mean the 767s are on the way out? It sounds like they'll be gone in the mid 2010s.
28 mhkansan: I doubt it. HA have spent a lot updating their 767s and they are not all that old. I'll bet they are buying the 332s for their range and for new expa

31 HALFA: You can add me to that list. I was born and raised in Hawaii and sadly, I never stepped foot aboard an AQ aircraft. My family always flew Hawaiian. A
32 Sevensixtyseven: Is Gate 26 the only A332-capable gate that Hawaiian can use? (I realize that other gates are A330 capable) When I flew LAS-HNL-LAS in February, Fligh
33 azjubilee: Coincidence... I've left from 27 before. Interestingly, I've only ever arrived and departed on the 767 from the interisland concourse.
34 RayChuang: I haven't heard about when will HA assign the A330-200 to their international routes--it seems HA is primarily flying the A332 between HNL and US West
35 je89_w: I believe most gates on the Ewa side are HA A332 ready, including gates 24 and 25. They do tend to use 26 and 27 the most though. They've been flying
36 jetboy757: Sevensixtyseven I'm not really sure on what exact gates can handle the HA A330, but I have seen it park in Gates 19, 24, 26, 27. A330's from jetstar,
37 ha763: What makes it even more unbelievable for me is that I used to work at AQ and for long enough to get flight benefits and still never stepped one foot
38 Bluewave 707: N384HA is named "Hōkūpa‘a" (Polaris or North Star). It left TLS as HAL9975 to LAX, and today as itʻs 1st rev flt from LAX to HNL as HAL8005. http

44 aztrainer: It is great to see another HA bird...... Is it bad that I know when HA-35 takes off and if I am able to I watch it make the long right hand turn to go
45 Sevensixtyseven: Unfortunately, you've got US as the main carrier to Hawaii out of Phoenix. This winter, you've got 4x daily on some days to HNL, 2x to OGG, 1x to LIH
46 SANFan: Keep in mind HA has already announced the cancellation of PDX-OGG early next year, with that a/c being shifted to SJC-OGG and OAK-OGG... I'm afraid t

48 Sevensixtyseven: The returning HA36 flight, HNL-PHX gets in around midnight, which is very inconvenient for connections anywhere out of PHX..regardless of carrier. So
49 aztrainer: That is true about the time aspect, but I also find the US time to be poor in that they do not leave until 10:30-11:00 HST and you have to out of you
50 ha763: All of HA's mainland flights, except LAX to some extent, are based off of O & D only. The flights are timed to maximize your time in Hawaii and g
51 Sevensixtyseven: I'd imagine LAS is another destination that is for more than O&D, for example, when I went to HNL, I flew on WN to LAS, then connected to HA's LA
52 HNLPointShoot: Any connecting traffic HA is able to get from their LAS flights are just a side benefit to the fact that people in Hawaii love to go to Vegas to gamb
