I flew on this plane last night and it got me thinking...what's the significance of the color scheme? Thanks.

I believe they coloured it like this for their 25th anniversery. I've seen it multiple times here in OKC.

Originally it was a bare metal fuselage, but it had to be kept out of service too long to be buffed, so it was painted a "silver" color.

Here in the US it is customary to give silver to people celebrating a 25th anniversary. When Southwest Airlines turned 25 years old, Kelleher had the newest aircraft delivered in buffed bare metal aside from the tail colors and a thin white "cheatline" running the length of the fuselage. As GoingBoeing said, it has now been painted over with a grayish-silver color and the cheatline is now red.
