If You Had The Money...Which Aircraft?

Hey guys,

This is something that is going to be lighthearted and also what many of my airliners.net friends may only ever dream about.

If you had the money and wanted a private aircraft, which one would you pick (funds unlimited) and how would you fit it out? It can be any dream imaginable or even something realistic.

I would love to own one of the Tu-144's left. I would have it retro-fitted with western avionics and have the whole thing checked and tested till I thought it was invincible. I would install a padded bathroom with a huge padded spa. (in case of CAT.) I would have a gourmet kitchen and a master bedroom with massive double sleeper seats. I would have another series of rooms for my friends so I could fly them around the world as I see fit in the comfort of my Tu-144. A bar and a projection room should fit in just right. And of course I would have escalators at every airport I wanted to fly to, have them.

Add to this a sensational wine cellar and I could just about live in this aircraft and spend the rest of my days traversing the world.

Of course if I had that sort of money I would have to have a 'fleet' of smaller A320's or B737's to ferry me in style to those destination that could not take the Tu-144.

Ahhh to have that sort of money!!

Let your imaginations run wild guys.

Cheers,

mb

Maybe an Airbus A380 (maybe the shorter version) with extra fuel tanks to give it extra range. On the lower deck I would have a large home cinema room with a library full of DVD movies and also satellite access. Next to it there would be a room with 4 Technics MK2s turntables, A 1000W Amplifier, a 4-disc CD player and a mixer. Going forward, there would be a large open area with a luxurious bathroom for the guests, a livingroom and a dining room that would be linked with the U/D's kitchen that would be in the front section. On the U/D there would be my bedroom, my office with the latest computer and telecommunication technologies and my bathroom with spa. There would also be two smaller bedrooms for guests and a crew rest area. Also a fitness area with all things needed...Ahhh...there would also be a garage at the AFT lower deck that couls accomodate two cars. Of course there would be a back large exit-ramp in order for the cars to be able to easily go in or out. Well, that's about it.

Well, if you had all the money, chances are you'd own a company of some sort.

I'd have a brand new B744. The aircraft would be divided into rooms- practical ones though. The back of the aircraft would probably have some sort of a movie theater. Front-Back: Bed Room, Kitchen (port)/Bathroom (starbord), Office (complete with satellite communications and uplink to company headquarters), Conference Room (to meet with those business associates), Bathroom (port)/Small Dining Area (starbord), theater.
Upper Deck would have advanced communications, and bunks or little cabins for guests to sleep.

I would buy the 777 of Lauda Air which is for sale at Boeings Homepage. It´s one of the most beautiful airliners a know. I "love" Lauda Air - great service and also very good image. I´m very sorry for Niki because OS robbered his DREAM.

A380 theorical price should be about 250 M Euros but it can vary depending on the type of equipment and on the amount of the discount.
777 180/200 M dollars.
You can see Boeing prices list on Boeing site.

I would just buy and plain aircraft and tune it to my tastes. For example, have this wicked color scheme, tinted windows, mag wheels, over-powered engines, lower the suspensions on the aircraft to give it a sporty look, 80 inch tires, and a rear spoiler.

God I love these posts!  Big thumbs up

The 744 is my favorite aircraft. But even if money was no object, I still don't think I would get one for my personnal use. Just too damn big!

OK, I'll break it down into two categories:

Personnal: In order of size.

"BBJ3" - 752 with winglets and aux fuel tanks. 7,500nm range
BBJ1
Hawker Horizon
PC12
Lancair IV-P
C182RG

Business:
747X non stretch
772LR
A330
752ER
BBJ1 & 2
Global express

The 747 & 777 would have 8 accross seating in economy with 34-36 in pitch. The A330 would have 7 across in economy same pitch. The 752 and BBJ's would be just like Privatair's. Only even nicer! Global express would be for smaller number of passengers.

Great, now I'm depressed. lol

I agree if you have the money why not have an entire fleet!

Here Goes

(1) BBJ2 outfitted for about 30
(1) GIVSP
(2) IAI 1125 SPX (now a Gulfstream G100)
(2) BE-400A Beechjet
(2) BE-B200 Super King Air
and a Bell 407

Maybe a tad unpractical for personal use, but I'd probably get Venturestar. Seeing that the funds are unlimited there would be no problem funding the development program, and sales of more units to NASA and ESA would soon cover that as well.
Fitted with a luxury cabin, it would make an ideal vehicle for those longdistance flights, as well as hops to the spacestations likely to go up in the foreseeable future.

Concorde

With a 2 man cockpit and FBW custom made by Airbus. Then I'd have it re-engined and an interior of grey leather, beige carpets and plenty of wood . The aft baggage compartment would be modified to house the sports car of my choice which I decide to take along, or of course, my 1960's pullman Mercedes Benz stretched limosine.

If I needed a big one, I'd buy a Boeing 747 SP. Not
just any SP, but P4-AFE, Ex-Jaguar and Air Atlanta Icelandic. This jet was likely the first SP I ever spotted - I saw a white SP on 14 August 1997. The
plane was since repainted in a simple, elegant Jaguar
livery. I'd keep the livery, including the Jaguar compass rose, if there were no copyright problem. If liked the
interior, I'd keep it

If I needed something smaller, I would buy BAC 1-11
c/n 259. In the early 1990s, it was shown on a well-made advertisment in FLIGHT INTERNATIONAL magazine
while being sold; it had excellent features (avionics
suite, low flying time etc) and an elegant livery and a
fabulously tasteful interior. Assuming it's still in that
condition, I guess.

It would be a combination.
First, a Caravelle, as I really love this aircraft (you can still be a passenger on GAbon Express.....)
For short flight, that's perfect.

Then ,for long distances, the Concorde . (and not the Concordsky...)

Nana...

A 747 sp, they are so cute!
I would then have it painted in pokemon liverly and fly around the world with a great big Pickachu on the tail!!!

It would have a hot tub insides, Game Cube or Playstation Two(cant be seen to advertise stuff), an new generation imac, an email phone and a great kitchen!

A DC-9 or a Fokker 100 for inter-city travel
(ie london to southampton)

A Concorde painted in gold for the queens golden jubilee next year!

It is amazing what can be accomplised when nobody takes the credit

DeHavilland Dash 8

Just kidding  Laugh out loud

I would have a brand new Boeing 744 and my personal interrior designer would design it to my liking. The garage is a good idea too. It would also have guest bedrooms, my master bedroom and bathroom with jacuzzi and gold plated sinks.

I'd get an A330-200 with either P&W or GE engines and for short hops into small airports I'd get either an 737 NG or The B 717.

Definetly a custom designed B747-400. Plus I would like to add a mini soccer goal towards the back to have a little pickup game at 35,000 feet in the air with my buds (though, we wouldnt last very long, given the altitude....hehe). What about a jacuzzi to kick back after the game, surrounded by big-screen tv's to watch my favourite european soccer games, while I am being whisked off to Sydney or Rio?...hehe. Some far fetched ideas.
