Hi All,

I have noticed from my visits to the BNE spotting area recently that on the northern side of BNE there are alot of earth movements, from what I am guessing this is if the expansion of the domestic apron (Qantas side). What my question is will the expansion of the domestic terminal follow soon after? As per the design release by BAC it looks like the building will continue its curved shape arround and will include a smaller concourse than the other three currently operating.

I have also heard word that construction work for the parallel runway will commence sometime next year, which is exciting. Maybe BAC will invest in another spotting area (hoping), although I am sure its probably not at the top of the list as it does not generate revenue. Silly quesiton, does anyone know why is only open from 0600-1800? I know its been like that for a while, but I can't remember the reason for it.

Cheers,

Mike

There will be a new spotters area and it has already been signed off and approved.I am fortunately one of a few spotters that have been selected to help decide on the area and facilities.BAC are 100% behind a viewing area.It hopefully will be completed before the old Loop rd as we call it will be closed around Spring next year.I cannot say too much more at this time except that this is the start only of better facilities for spotters and aviation enthusiasts.

Yes this massive development of the northern apron expansion will allow for a further 20 parking positions and i do believe extension of the terminal will follow soon thereafter as well as the new pavilion check in area development.

The reason the acacia st viewing area is closed in the evenings is due to attraction of unruly types involved in unlawful activities.

I hope this helps.

Just one query, I though the pavillion area was canned in favour of the new layout currently under construction with an elevated walkway?

Can you/anyone confirm what the G-O is here?

Cheers,

Mike

Mike you may well be correct, but i have not heard of the pavilion being canned just delayed.?Remember it is meant to be a new check in area with cafes and boulevards and a elevated walkway does not achieve these goals.

Cheers
