What route would possibly make BOS a diversion airport for TAM? I'm stumped.

I would assume it's a JFK diversion. Makes sense to me.

Only if JFK and all other airports in the area were closed for some reason. This flight had to go past a bunch of airports on the way up from Brazil, including JFK itself, in order to divert to BOS.

Probably was holding for JFK, NYC airport shut down due to WX, diverted to BOS due to fuel. Makes perfect sense to me.

This past summer TAM diverted both their morning arrivals to BOS from JFK due to a line of thunderstorms passing through NYC in the morning hours.

I suppose it makes sense. We get a lot of WX diversions from TATL flights but it's very unusual for us to get diversion from the south or west.
