Aftern many delays Air Adriatic has finally got its first aircraft - a 157 seat Tu-154M. It was presented today at Pula airport. They will fly about 70 % of charter flights (touristic) and rest will be charters for croats working abrouad (propably most in Germany) and other (did'nt specify what - propably some schedules) flights will commmence as soon as some buearocratic obstacles are cleared they should have got Do-328JET yesterdy, but I hav no info on that they are also negotiating to aquire one MD-80

they will fly charter flights from all Croatian airports (fit to operate aircraft of that size) since they will fly mostly toursitic charters the airport on adriatic coastline is obvious choice

John: no family, but dear friends who are as close as family. Hrvatska is the best kept secret in Europe. My wife speaks some Croatian, and I am trying to learn.
Hvala, zbogom.

Hey...
Just to join your conversation... Haven't heard a lot about Air Adriatic, but as far as I know they were planning to start operations in April 2001, with two MD82's leased from who-knows-which-one leasing company.
The financers are from Israel, and the founder of the company is one respected and expirienced croatian captain.
I'm more than happy to hear that our one-and-only bigger airline CTN is finaly getting some competitors. I was really into "Air Croatia" project, which started in 1994, and finished 1995 with total failure (because of administrative blockade). Few more words about dead AirCroatia project: more than 20 aircrafts (8 Do228's and 2 Do328's, owned, and few 737-200, two L1011-200's, two DC10-30's, some helicopters and cargo aircrafts, all leased). The project was developed in cooperation with Northwest, stopped because of military action in may 1995, than forgotten. Don't know what happened with Dornier aircrafts, I heard they went to Malta or something...

hy again, I do nt know why but news about Air Adriatic were ignored by most of the journalist here - I found info on teletext, but there was nothing at night news (maybe iot was before but I hadn't watched), also two leading croatian newspapers(jutarnji and vecernji list) didn't mention the event (but they mentioned thet tram tracks in some street are being welede) only newpaper I know mentioning it is SLobodna Dalmacija http://www.slobodnadalmacija.hr/20010726/turizam.htm(linked is the article in Croatian (witho low quality photo) some internet sites had the announcement of state news agency HINA CroFlight - have the Air Croatia aircrafts been painted in Air Croatia livery?

I just saw the pic on Slobodna Dalmacija web-site. It is really low quality, but I don't think that this Tu154 has Air Adriatic's livery... It's probably still in original owner's c/s...
About Air Croatia... I don't think there was time to paint the birds, because aircraft delivery and closure of business happened allmost at the same time. Anyway, there were some models in AirCroatia's offices. Something like... whole white, with big AirCroatia letters on sides (Air-blue, Croatia-red), and rounded blue logo on the white tail, looked like one bird on the top of another... didn't want to be rude, but that's how it was... Maybe I'll find that logo between my papers...
Somebody wants to know more about AirCroatia? I know lots of answers...

Hi,

Seems the Tu154 is leased from Bulgarian Air Charter. Had to see on the black and white picture, but the tail shows the same design, where BAC titles are is now a white stickers with logo. Mind the coloured nose, same as on Bulgarian air Charter planes.

best wishes,
Marcel

Yes, 9A, you're right. Investors are officialy from Germany, but originaly from Israel.
Seems like their plans are quite changed, because when they announced the opening earlier this year, nobody mentioned any Tu154 or 328Jet, only two MD80's or 82's... Looks like investors are not so sure about their investmet.
Anyway, it seems like it's not easy to fight with Croatia Airlines here. As a state-owned company, they are in privileged position. For new airlines it is really hard to manage all the administration and paperwork, because government is trying to make it as hard as it can be. It is not fair, but I can understand that. As a main guarantee for all the new Airbuses in CTN's fleet, the government have to protect their investment. Taking CTN down means a great loss for the government and they are not going to let it happen.
Good luck, Air Adriatic. Hope you'll survive this year.

I haven't jheard anything about Air Adriatic starting flying yet, I haven't seen them at Zagreb and I checked on-line arrival info on Durovnik and there is no trace of them there as well that is weird - if they got aircraft they should use it, not have it parked at Pula

Aru you sure that the aircraft is still parked at Pula? Maybe that was just a show-off, and Tupolev is back in Bulgaria or who knows where...
I'll try to check the situation at Pula apt today. I'll post if I find out something...

they apparently haven't got operating licence yet - maybe they won't get it at all because it is a russian airplane- I rember that North Adria Aviation aquired Yak-40 few years back and they couldn't get licence to fly it because administration considered it is "unsafe" actually it would be the third airline from Croatia (and from Istra-Kvarner region) which was supposed to start opps with russian jets but didn't - the first was RPL Airports Rijeka which aquired three ex-DDR Air Force Tu-134 but couldn't take them up because German goverment blocked the deal because of arms embargo - but this reason is stranget to me - embargo didn't stop them selling MiG's to Croatian Air Force in an hour there will be touristic magazine on crotian TV so there might be some info on Air Adriatic

no mnetion of new airline on touristic magazine as well - big part of blame lies on journalist, but I think that Air Adriatic publoc relations are also a big reason for problem I sent them several mail few months ago on behalf of on-line aviation magazine Aerocroatia, and they have not responded perhaps they didn't even check e-mail - there are some enterpreneurs here whp heard about internet and how good it is - so they decided to open web sites and get e-mail addrresses - bit never refreshed their sites neither read e-mail (for example Laus Air- site has no info and is always under construction)

tu154m manufactured after 1990 are stage 3 compliant with very little margin but nevertheless compliant. so if this tu154m is equipped with tcas, brnav, rvsm etc (and i'm sure it is) - it can fly in europe for several years more.

there is a solution for tu154m engines (D30KU) - a kind of hushkit called "ZPK". actually, 154m of post -90 production equipped with D30KU-154 engines with ZPK installed, so pre -90 production needs the same installation in order to be stage 3 comliant. such modification is offered by engine producer and costs reasonably - can not find the fugures right now but we talking about 100-300k $US per aircraft.
