INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT IS THIS REPORT?
This compares what is for sale THIS WEEK for the stated period versus what was for sale LAST WEEK...It does NOT compare to last year or now (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED).
HOW DO I READ IT?
XXX-YYY DEC 4>5 JAN 4>5 ; means that the listed airline changed the frequency between the two airports to add from 4 to 5 roundtrips in December and January. No other months were changed. I only list one direction, although it is possible the listed change is only one way. It is too difficult to average the two directions. I assume the change is roundtrip and that is most often the case.
HOW ARE THE DAILY DEPARTURES CALCULATED?
This report uses total operations for the month listed, divided over the days in the month.
WHAT ARE THE FRACTIONAL FLIGHTS?
Non-daily operations create fractional weekly service. In most cases flights are rounded, but in the case of international service or markets with low frequency, fractions are shown. If a flight operated 5 days out of 7, it would show 0.8 flights.
WHY ARE THERE WEIRD FREQUENCIES IN FAR AWAY MONTHS FOR LCCs?
Most airlines publish schedules 11 months in advance. This report covers the next 9 months. That avoids seeing schedules as they are loaded. Several LCCs load their schedules less than 9 months into the future. Their schedules may also end mid-month. If B6 loads their schedule until Jan15, all flights in Janaury will show half frequency because of the way the report is created.
WHY IS A WHOLE AIRLINE'S SCHEDULE SHOWN AS CHANGING FOR A FUTURE MONTH?
Similarly to the previous question, some airlines load their schedule from nothing inside the 9 month window of this report. When their schedule is extended it will show as new service because there was no previous schedule to compare to. In some instances I will show a more valid comparison against another period.
THOSE FLIGHTS AREN'T DELTA, THEY ARE PINNACLE
This report only shows the marketing code. It is too complicated to show all the operators.
THE FREQUENCIES MAY HAVE CHANGED AS YOU SHOW, BUT THE SEATS DIDNT CHANGE BECAUSE OF EQUIPMENT SWAPS
That is a natural weakness of a frequency based report, but it provides something to discuss below.
THE FREQUENCY DOESN'T SHOW A CHANGE, E.G. 4>4
This happens as a result of rounding. There is a change in service that is large enough to be listed, but through rounding it does not appear.
I marked some of the ones I thought were interesting with an "*".

Not sure I get this one as a stand-alone. It's part of the the SJC-SMF-BOI and SMF-SJC-BOI round robin. So I would have expected to see changes to the remaining part of that.
What are they going to once a day:
SJC-BOI
SMF-BOI?
I didn't really think that routing was intended to get much SJC-SMF traffic in itself.

Wow, commercial flights to Cincinnati-Lunken? Who's P1?
IIRC, this flight used to be once a week during the entire season. It ends in April (as does SEA-SJD and SEA-PVR and SJC-SJD) so this is expected.
More Mexico cuts. You haven't seen it in my change report because they did it with stealth (the flights were never loaded and thus never changed), but DL has cut back their Mexico service from all the former NW hubs for the upcoming season.

This is where the additional slot US airways was awarded at Long Beach is going i guess
US already flies PHX-LGB 5x daily during most parts of the year, though one flight is typically a CRJ which only requires a commuter slot.

First MIA-VLN cancelled now it looks like MIA-MAO may not happen.
AA has not announced MIAMAO whatsoever. That is just a list auto-pulled from the schedules, not an announcement. You can't find a press release for MIAMAO, or MIAVLN for that matter.
MIAVLN is delayed at no fault of AA - the Venezuelan government has again denied AA landing rights. My guess is that they might give them the landing rights if Laser is approved for FLLCCS. I don't think it's a coincidence that the rights were pulled not long after Laser applied for FLLCCS.
Manaus will launch in summer 2012. Nothing has changed as of now. Porto Alegre is rumored to launch alongside Manaus, but that is still just a rumor.
What is happening at MIA, though, is a complete moratorium on new flights taking off and landing between 9AM and 1PM due to baggage system problems.

No it's a normal seasonal thing. AS doesn't serve Mexico direct from SEA year round. They do from LAX. I wouldn't call this more Mexico cuts.

I think the route would do well for them given AA can make it work, with no other market presence.
Quoting enilria (Reply 19): Do they need political support for anything? LOL
Ok lets be realistic just for a sec. The vast, vast majority of air service at CRW isn't politically influenced. There are the exceptions to that ( as there are everywhere ), but I don't think that comment is warranted.
WOW! Even if they are cutting back, UA added flights from the west coast to Hawaii.
I recall hearing that the ORD to HNL flights for both carriers were both magnets for frequent flyer mile redemptions and therefore not very profitable? Is that still the case? Assuming that the seats available for FF redemption were reduced, I'm still surprised AA couldn't make it work. I wonder where that plane will be used?

@ CRW perhaps it is infrequent, but for places like Beckley and Bluefield and Elkins and Morgantown it is almost the whole equation. HTS is probably in between. Also, I would disagree it is comparable with other places. NY state is the only other that comes to mind as being in the same league. There was a time when JAN was in the same league, but that time has passed.

2 of those cities have no service and the other 2 are EAS. MGW supports their flights well from my understanding. BKW should probably pack it in.

JAN has Southwest because of politics. I don't see them here. Nor do I see any routes that wouldn't otherwise be in an airlines system.. the ONE exception being LGA on AA.
How I wish we were in the league JAN was once in....
