Crazy passenger decides to scan his boarding pass and board himself in-front of Continental Gate Agent in Houston

So when you thought you seen everything there is this. You got to see this. This is not my video. Found it on YouTube.

http://youtu.be/ky2ZYiN7aoQ?hd=1

This is at Continental hub in Houston. This guy decided he is not going to wait any longer for the gate agent to board the flight and take it upon himself to scan and board the plane! She tells him to have a good day and he walks off like he is going to leave but decided to board himself instead. Seriously? Did he think he was going to board himself? I like the agent expression … she is like wtf? I wish I could see this in real life. I think the gate agent was nice to him. Cause if it was me he would be put on a different flight. Has anyone witness anything like this?

Worked Hard. Flew Right. Farewell, Continental. Thanks for the memories.

Maybe he had previously flown through this gate (E4 I believe) and was a bit confused...

I have seen those at IAH. I know one of the gates has them. My guess he must have been arguing with the gate agent for a while so someone started to video it and frustrated with her, he decides to board himself. They said there was a long flight delay.

We get that ALL the time at WN. People think they're being cute by boarding themselves. Or the plane will get in 30mins early and while the crew is hanging out down in the jetway, the pax will see the plane thru the window and just run down thinking they've missed it. Can't stand it!

My posts/replies are strictly my opinion and not that of any company, organization, or Southwest Airlines.

I agree that the guy was confused.

However, the Gate Agent explained his error.

IMO, the repeated comments by other passengers was more likely to create an issue than resolve one.

I bit of a non incident.

Interesting, the author of this video titles it that the agent as being rude.

Listen Betty, don't start up with your 'White Zone' s*** again.

The comments below make it sound like we aren't seeing the whole story when it comes to the gate agent.

Cheers,

Common CO777DAL, what's the big deal. I mean, some airports actually encourage you to board on your own (Frankfurt & Munich at least, IIRC).

Yes, he probably shouldn't do it, but there's really no harm in what he did. Besides, it could be he had some back story as people were not taping him for no reason.

A few weeks ago I was called to the counter and the agent ask me to give them my boarding pass. I said no. She was confused... what, why? I said no, because I know you are going to rip it apart and put me on a later flight; so NO, I'm boarding this plane.

My back story was this: I was stuck @ MUC due to a technical problem on Adria Canadair 900. They didn't give us any real info, they were just announcing "more information in x hours". After a while I got tired of waiting and rerouted my ticket to MUC->VIE->LJU.

So now I'm @ VIE, late in the afternoon, when I should have been home many hours ago. And they wanted to push me to a later flight (last for the day), or possibly even book me on the next day. And the reason was, the VIE->LJU flight was supposed to be flying with the same - broken - Canadair, which was still at MUC, so they sent a much smaller CRJ200 instead.
And the agent didn't do what she was supposed to do in case of an overbook flight - which is, ask for volunteers - but tried to deny mi right to board. And yes, I was ready to do "a crazy thing" compared to something like the guy on this video did.

Gate agents - or airlines - are no gods, they just perform a service.

Yes, and I really like the system they have there

It's the same in most airports in Norway, at least when flying domestic. Much faster and more convenient, than waiting for some gate agent
