Great news for CWL.
Seems a bit of an odd destination for them to serve. Wonder if we'll start to see Vueling at other UK airports soon. Maybe MAN or EDI?

Finally some great news for CWL! With WW leaving the airport this very weekend, to hear of a new route is excellent. May VY do well with this new venture. It seems fairly obvious that they are starting to expand to other UK airports beside LHR and have avoided the massive orange presence at BRS - which would nonetheless be their main competitor. It means now that for the public of South Wales there is a local choice.

Vueling flew to EDI in summer 2010, but the route seems to have been dropped now. Ryanair currently fly EDI-BCN, so I doubt we will see Vueling back any time soon

I was hoping for an Air Nostrum service to MAD from either CWL or BRS, but Vueling is a good surprise too.
Yeah and priced through the roof!
Anyways, good news for Vueling and glad to see some expansion as well, looking on their website they will also offer flights to ARN, CPH, Aalborg, Brest and the aforementioned CWL.
Routes starting in March.
I did a dummy booking BCN-CPH, it can be done as a weekender trip (FRI-SUN) but its priced now at 200€

What Vueling should do is compete with UK & Ireland carriers from the Spanish side. Set up a big base down in AGP and throw flights to the UK...
If you add all UK-AGP flights that's over 50 daily flights right now; and it's not even summer anymore. All of them operated by British and Irish airlines. I guess the figure can go up to 75 daily in summer peak period.

Nice to see my local airport get some good news for a change. If Vueling can make a go of things, great. Their best bet around here would be a flight to alicante. My uncle has been flying ww for years on that route, several times a year. Now he's having to go with easy jet from brs. For him, living in Cardiff, the airport was convenient.
Sadly though, without new routes, cwl well end up seeing more traffic from BA for maintenance that actual passenger traffic.
