I did a search on this topic and found some interesting reasons. But something doesn't add up. In an old Aviation Week I saw McDonnell Douglas's stock prices, and they where up there like, 80 dollars a share the second highest, as a matter of fact they where higher than Boeing. Not only that the coments about there good ernigns was great and had promising things to say about the newest entry in to the Douglas family the MD-95. Another thing was a comment made by Douglas's then President and CEO Harry C. Stonecipher said that they did not need to sell another comercial aircraft for another several years and live off the defense part of the company alone and be able to survive. If you ask me someone was offered more money, or someone was lying.

What do you think.
