Qatar Airways Announces Massive Increase To Iran

According to QR website, effective 1st march 2012

1) DOH - IKA increase from double daily to triple daily

2) DOH - MHD increases from 5 weekly to double daily

3) DOH - SYZ increases from 2 weekly to 9 weekly.

4) New daily flights between DOH and IFN from January 2012

The total number of flights will now increase from current 21 weekly to 52 weekly.

I suppose these flights would be necessary to facilitate aircraft rotation if QR does in fact begin significant domestic flying in the Iranian market. I do wonder if QR will fly out of THR for domestic service given that it is not an existing station - if so, that would partially explain the need for additional MHD and SYZ services to rotate aircraft since current regulations would not allow DOH-THR to be flown.

I was actually going to pose the question of whether or not Isfahan could be on the table, but obviously there's my answer. I wonder if they would eventually consider AWZ and/or TBZ as well.

Also, it doesn't say whether all these flights are nonstop. There might be a DOH-SYZ-IFN for example...

All flights are non stop terminator flights. The domestic flights plans are still in initial stages
